International Students from 91传媒 Attended the Research Activity at the Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall

On March 27, the International Students Office of 91传媒 organized an international student research activity to the Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall in Huairou District, Beijing. Students from various countries visited this uniquely distinctive section of the Great Wall, where they climbed the ancient fortifications and immersed themselves in nature amid the scenic spring landscape of lakes and mountains. Through this journey and hands-on experience, they gained a deeper appreciation of the profound heritage of Chinese history and culture.

The Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall derives its name from three sections of the Great Wall that extend into the water, making it one of the most representative and distinctive Great Wall landscapes in Beijing. During the visit, international students ascended the ancient, timeworn walls step by step, taking in sweeping views of rolling mountains and crystal-clear waters from afar, while observing weathered bricks and historical relics up close. Amid the interplay of natural scenery and cultural heritage, they experienced firsthand the grandeur and historical depth of the Great Wall.


The glass suspension walkway spanning across the lake became a major highlight of the activity. Its transparent surface, set against the surrounding mountains and waters, offered students a completely new perspective for viewing the scenery and provided the perfect setting for capturing many unforgettable moments.

Through a variety of immersive activities, this program enabled international students to experience the unique charm of the Lakeside. Great Wall from multiple perspectives:


- Hiking along the ancient walls, ascending to higher vantage points, and overlooking the harmonious landscape of mountains and lake

- Strolling across the walkway, experiencing the spatial layers and shifting visual perspectives between water and mountains.

- Boating on the lake, observing up close from the water the spectacular scene of the Great Wall extending into the lake.


Through these rich hands-on experiences, students not only appreciated the natural beauty of the site, but also developed a more concrete and in-depth understanding of the historical background and cultural significance of the Great Wall.

During this visit, international students developed a more multidimensional and profound cultural understanding through firsthand experience and on-site observation: Experiencing history through movement: By climbing the Great Wall and touching its ancient bricks, students gained a tangible understanding of its historical value and architectural ingenuity. Experiencing culture through landscape: Amid the interplay of mountains and water, students appreciated the aesthetic ideal of harmony between nature elements in traditional Chinese culture. Deepening understanding through exchange: Through discussion and interaction during the visit, students shared their perspectives, further enhancing their understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture.

Centered on the theme of “learning through exploration,” this cultural experience activity at the Lakeside Great Wall organically integrated natural landscapes with historical heritage, enabling international students to perceive and understand China in authentic, real-world settings.


Looking ahead, the International Students Office will continue to organize diverse cultural practice activities, expanding the scope of students’ learning and experiences, and supporting them in developing a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of a real, dynamic, and multidimensional China.
